SCRUBBY BEAR
Personal Hygiene Red Cross Program
Designed for children 4 to 7 years old, the program teaches kids how germs are spread, how to prevent the spread of disease and how to properly wash their hands. The good habits message is delivered through a half hour presentation which includes Scrubby himself, a large Teddy Bear mascot. Games and songs keep kids involved while they learn good hygiene, reinforced by Scrubby's own message, "Don't Get Sick! Wash Up Quick." Messaging is most appropriate for children in K through 2nd grade and groups of 25 or less in one classroom are preferred. After the program, kids have a chance to meet and greet Scrubby himself.
The Red Cross Scrubby Bear program has been successfully used by schools, hospitals, health agencies, day care centers and summer camps. Scrubby is generally available after 10:30am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays beginning on March 22 and continuing through the end of the school year.
