Health & Safety Volunteer Opportunities



First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor: Teach a course in Adult CPR, Infant & Child CPR, or First Aid. Must have current First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Training is provided.

Water Safety Instructor: Teach an Infant and Preschool Aquatic Program, Learn-to-Swim Program (Levels I-VII), or Community Water Safety. Must have current Water Safety Instructor certification.

Water Safety Instructor Aide: Assist with the instruction of Infant and Preschool Aquatic Program, or Learn-to-Swim Program (Levels I-VII).

Lifeguard Instructor: Teach a course in Lifeguard Training (including first aid), CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Instructor Aide, and Community Water Safety. Must have current Lifeguard Instructor certification.

Babysitting Instructor: Teach a course in Babysitting to youth participants. Instructor certification required.

Pet First Aid Instructor: Teach a course on Pet First Aid. Special skills required.

Scrubby Bear Presenter & Mascot: Two motivated, well-organized, and energetic individuals are needed to teach the new, fun Scrubby Bear curriculum to local area kindergartners, first, and second graders. Scrubby Bear was developed by the American Red Cross, and is the symbol of a national campaign to teach children, health care personnel, day care providers, and educators that infection can be combated through frequent hand washing. Scrubby Bear aims to teach children ages 4-7 years old how germs are spread, how to prevent the spread of disease, and how to properly wash their hands, in a brief presentation featuring two volunteers, one as the presenter and the other as the famous, costumed "Scrubby Bear."

Data Entry Specialist: Enter Health & Safety records into web based systems. Requires computer skills and excellent attention to detail.

Miscellaneous Duties:
Distribute public awareness brochures and flyers
Classroom manikin maintenance
General filing
