The Red Cross and Loaves & Fishes are teaming up to bring some cheer to the homeless and underprivileged in Ithaca on Friday, December 12 at Loaves & Fishes on Buffalo Street.

Give Thanks this Holiday by Giving Blood
Blood donors are needed the Friday following Thanksgiving, November 28th at the Ithaca VFW, Post #961 from 11:30am-5:30pm, and at the Ithaca YMCA from 10am-3pm.Donors will receive a free holiday T-shirt when they arrive. Please help us by giving the Gift of Life, because the need for blood doesn't take a holiday.

Eleven-Year-Old Caroline Student Travels to Guinea to Take Part in Measles Initiative (11.03)
At the invitation of the American Red Cross, 11-year old Gregory Pendergast, a fifth-grader at Caroline Elementary School and his teacher, Anita Bellucci, will take part in the Measles Initiative's sixth mass measles campaign of the year, November 7-12 in the Republic of Guinea.

American Red Cross Holds Volunteer Awards Celebration,
Honors Outstanding Service (10.03)

The American Red Cross of Tompkins County honored stellar volunteers at the 87th annual Volunteer Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, October 9 at the Holiday Inn. Peter Brellochs, Board Chair and Charles Nocera, Executive Director, honored over 100 attendees. A special presentation was given by Eleanor Stearns of the Geneva Theater Guild, who acted as Clara Barton, American Red Cross founder.

Red Cross Bestows Two Community Awards at Annual Business Luncheon (9.03)
The American Red Cross of Tompkins County honored two members of the community Friday September 19, 2003 at the Annual Business Luncheon at the Holiday Inn, Ithaca. The two awards are given each year in honor of two individuals who provided invaluable service to the American Red Cross of Tompkins County: Joe Nesby and David Malcom.  more
Red Cross Honors Volunteers at Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner (10.03)
On Thursday, October 9th the Tompkins County Chapter of the American Red Cross will be honoring its many volunteers at the annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner, from 5-9pm at the Holiday Inn. Awards will be given to one outstanding volunteer from each department, Emergency, Blood, Health and Safety, and Homeless Services, and musical entertainment will be provided by Johnny Russo. This event is open to all Red Cross volunteers: those who have donated time, money or blood in the last year. Those wishing to attend should RSVP to Luz Rivera by email at lrivera@tompkins-redcross.org or call 273-1900 ext. 13 by Friday October 3.

Caroline Elementary Students Take Active Role in Red Cross Measles Initiative (June 03)
The Tompkins County chapter has developed an all-encompassing innovative curriculum geared toward elementary school students that is being used by Mrs. Bellucci's fourth graders at Caroline Elementary School. The program is broken into five main areas, on of which being fundraising directly for the Initiative.

Resolution Between the American Red Cross and the Food and Drug Administration (April 03)
The Red Cross and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have reached agreement on terms of a new Consent Decree, which provides legal guidance on the handling of donated blood.
