NYSEG and the American Red Cross have established this program to provide financial assistance to persons over 60 years of age, persons with disabilities, or those with serious medical conditions who need help to pay for energy expenses. Project SHARE can help pay bills for oil, natural gas, electricity, propane, or wood. It may also help you pay for repairs to heating equipment, water heaters, broken windows and storm doors.

To qualify for Project SHARE, you must:

  • Have an energy-related emergency.
  • Be a NYSEG customer or live in NYSEG's service area.
You must also be:
  • Age 60 or older OR
  • Disabled, regardless of age OR
  • Have a serious medical problem which is aggravated by the energy emergency, regardless of age.
If eligible, Project Share recipients usually receive a grant of up to $200, not to exceed more than one grant in 18 months.
