The Emergency Shelter is a temporary home to families, individuals, and runaway youth who have no means of affording alternative living arrangements. It is the only homeless shelter in Ithaca, New York and one of the very few shelters run by the American Red Cross.

The Emergency Shelter provides:
  • Thirteen beds.
  • A fully stocked kitchen, two full baths, and laundry facilities.
  • On-site staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Additional building, located at the same address, specifically designed to accommodate families.
When admitted to the shelter, residents receive case management services which assist them in locating affordable housing and get them back on their own as soon as possible.
